Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Blackberry
SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Caterpillar is the world's largest maker of construction and mining equipment and this year the company is marking its 100th anniversary.
On Tuesday, July 29, Caterpillar celebrated its presence in South Milwaukee with a trailer full of historic and interactive exhibits for the people who work at the plant there.
It's part of the company's 65-stop world tour marking 100 years in business.
"Well number one, we're American made and we're made right here in South Milwaukee and there's only two companies that make what we make, so the giant shovels and the giant drag lines that we make," said Dennis Kubricky, machine shop team. "You take pride in doing something that not many people have done before."
Caterpillar acquired the old Bucyrus product line in 2011. As part of Tuesday's visit, the company made a $7,000 donation to a hometown nonprofit called South Milwaukee Human Concerns.
