Carjacking victim speaks
Samone Spencer,53, says she is happy to be alive after surviving a carjacking just outside her home.
She cooperated with the suspect and was shot anyway. Three times total, including in the face.
\"My passenger door popped open. He put a gun inside, saying 'hand me your keys.' I looked at him like I was shocked. Is this a joke? He yelled it again. I threw the keys to him and right away I heard the gunshots,\" Spencer told CBS 58 News. A patch covering her eye where she was struck.
It happened Tuesday night, April 21st, near 50th and Locust.
According to Spencer, the teen suspect had been walking around her neighborhood. She even exchanged pleasantries with him a few moments earlier.
After being wounded, she crawled from the car and hoped the gunman would just drive away and leave her be.
\"I knew I was hit because I could feel the blood running,\" recalled Spencer. \"I fell out the car and crawled and laid on the grass because I didn't want to be hit. Why why would you shoot somebody like that. Because you didn't want to walk?\"
Police arrested Grover Ferguson,17, within hours. They say he had a criminal record dating back to when he was just 11 years old.
