Car plunges over cliff, lodges in tree

A 78-year-old Milwaukee man had to be extricated from his car Saturday morning after it went off the edge of a cliff on Milwaukee’s lake shore and became struck in a tree.   According to the Milwaukee Police, the incident happened around 9:50 AM at the on E Hampshire Street where it ends at the Lake Michigan shore.  Apparently, the driver went over the edge of a driveway, tumbled down the cliff and became wedged in a tree.  According to the police, the tree prevented the car from plunging into the lake.   The Milwaukee Fire Department was able to quickly extricate the man from his vehicle and transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
