76-year-old man killed in Waukesha crash identified

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The medical examiner's office identified the 76-year-old man who died in a crash in Waukesha over the weekend as Gerald Kuchler. 

The Waukesha Police Department says an investigation shows Kuchler did not stop for a red light when the crash occurred. 

The investigation is still open and active. 

Kuchler's family shared the following message: 

"Gerard F. Kuchler, age 76, died on Sunday. He was a well-respected and brilliant attorney for 50 years. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Before his retirement, he was part of the law firm of Kuchler & Cotton, SC in Waukesha. Gerry is lovingly survived by his children, Ben Kuchler, Dan (Deni) Kuchler, and Margaret (Ali Kanzi Belghiti) with his former wife Mary Walsch. He is further survived by his loving stepchildren, Tony (Laurel) Cotton, Andrew (Lindsey) Cotton, and Natalie (Cyrille) Sauvain with his former wife and law partner Donna Kuchler. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren who all adored grandpa Bear."

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha police and fire responded to a two-car crash on Sunday, June 4, around 10:04 a.m. near the area of Les Paul and Genesee, which was closed for a while. 

CPR was quickly administered to one of the people in one of the cars. This person was then taken to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries. He was 76-years-old.

The investigation is continuing. The driver and passengers of the other car involved were released from the scene and are cooperating with authorities.
