UPDATE: Officer released from hospital, burglary suspect identified in fatal officer-involved shooting

CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One man is dead and an officer hurt following an officer-involved shooting on Sunday in Caledonia.
Authorities held a press conference on Monday morning and identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jared Nelson of Racine.
The officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. The officer is a 4-year veteran of the Caledonia Police Department.

CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One man is dead and an officer is seriously injured following an officer-involved shooting in Caledonia.
Caledonia Police were called to a burglary in progress on Crystal Spring Drive around 4:59 p.m. on Sunday.
Upon arrival, an officer encountered a man with an 'edged weapon.'
The officer suffered a serious head wound injury as a result. The injured officer responded by firing shots, striking the man with the weapon.
"It was fast , it was, I heard four, boom, boom, it was very fast," said Terri Hart who lives nearby.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are serious but Caledonia Police say he is expected to survive.
"It's a pretty bad feeling, especially with this type of neighborhood and the fact of getting off work and not having your wife or kids answer you and you think it’s your home so it’s kind of a surreal feeling," said Patrick Ramseur who lives nearby.
The man with the weapon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Racine Police Department is investigating.
