Multiple Whitefish Bay homes broken into by suspects cutting open screens; car stolen from driveway

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Whitefish Bay Police are warning residents to keep all of their windows closed and doors locked after a burglar cut open a screen on an open window and got into a home Saturday night.

Once the burglar got into the home on the 4400 block of N. Ardmore, they were able to obtain keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway. The burglar took the vehicle and some small items from the home.

Police say a second home was broken into in a similar way just before 4 a.m. Sunday. The suspect cut the screen on the first floor and stole a garage door opener which they used to rummage through the cars in the garage. The homeowner saw the suspects leave in a gray Honda Odyssey minivan that had been stolen from a house in Shorewood.

In a third incident a screen was cut on a porch and a TV was stolen.

Whitefish Bay Police say window screens are easily cut with just a pocketknife.
