MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Staffers from the Bucks organization took a little time away from their playoff preparations to do a little volunteer work at the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary Tuesday, April 26.
Bango and his friends passed out food with the help of volunteers from Pick 'n Save stores as part of the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.
But the main purpose for their visit was to drop off gift cards to help the sanctuary feed homeless people.
Over the next three months, the Bucks and Pick 'n Save are donating $50,000 worth of gift cards to six different community groups. The gift cards will help provide access to healthy food for homeless and at-risk adults.
“It is a privilege to team up with the Milwaukee Bucks to provide gift cards to support Milwaukee organizations like the MacCannon Brown Homeless Sanctuary,” said James J. Hyland, Roundy’s vice president of communications & public affairs. “With these gift cards, we hope to lift up members of our community by providing access to food for today and hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
Donations will also be made to Benedict Center, Pathfinders, Meta House, Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and Maroon Calabash during the months of May, June and July.
