MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Fiserv Forum on Wednesday, Nov. 26, a number of the community's strongest heroes received a free Thanksgiving meal.

A Milwaukee Bucks and Levy teamed up to distribute dozens of turkey dinners to Milwaukee firefighters ahead of the holiday.
Gordon Food Service pitched in to donate the meals and personnel from over 30 local firehouses participated.
One chef said giving to those who protect us is so important.
"We understand their role and how they do not get a break and being able to ensure that they have a nice Thanksgiving meal and are able to celebrate their time together, we know they are away from their families and this our way of saying thank you," said Marlene Duke, senior executive chef at Levy.
More than 500 pounds of turkey was donated to firehouses as part of the event.
