Bucks Announce New Apartment Building Project in Downtown Arena District
Construction on the Bucks New Arena is well underway and work continues to develop the area around it.
On Friday, the franchise announced a major development right across from the arena.
They also released artistic rendering of what the 90 unit apartment building will look like on 6th Street, between McKinley and Juneau.
Milwaukee based "Royal Capital Group" will head the project.
"You know, we can't ignore the challenges that we see," said Kevin Newell, President of Royal Capital LLC. "We are definitely committed to making sure this development is successful. But more importantly, other development opportunities that are closer to that Bronzeville area."
Work is set to begin on the apartment next fall.
"The huge opportunity we have isn't just about economic development and it isn't just about jobs," said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. "It's about moving the needle on the single-largest challenge that metro Milwaukee has, which is the wage disparity. We talk about it all the time."
A sports bar, cafe and even space will be going in at the ground level.
The arena is set to open on time for the 20-18-2019 basketball season.
