BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A rare discovery was found inside a car in Waukesha County. Brookfield Police found an Uzi in a secret compartment during a traffic stop.
Police say the Uzi had a round in the chamber and a loaded magazine.
Police stopped the car on January 15 around 11:20 p.m. for speeding and smelled weed when they approached the car. After checking the driver's license, police learned he had a suspended license. When officers asked to search the car he told them that a co-worker borrowed his car at lunch and he didn't know what was inside.
During a search, officers discovered numerous compartments that were easily able to be removed. One compartment was a plastic floorboard near the center of the car below the radio. Inside was a yellow box which the officer had to open a side compartment to reach. When the officer removed the plastic compartment they saw a large gun that would be accessible to anyone driving.
Authorities arrested a Milwaukee man for having a gun while being a felon along with other charges.
