Brewers Sign One-Year Contract with Chris Carter

The Milwaukee Brewers signed free agent first baseman Chris Carter to a one-year contract.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the team designated catcher Josmil Pinto for assignment.

“We are pleased to be able to add Chris to our organization,” said General Manager David Stearns.

Carter, 29, has hit 90 home runs over the last three seasons.

He started 112 games for the Astros this past season and led the team in walks.

According to the Brewers, Carter was a key component in the Astros capturing an American League Wild Card Spot in 2015.
