Brewers pitchers sizzle in St. Louis shutout

Mike Fiers and four Brewers relievers combined on a 1-0 shutout of the Central-leading St. Louis Cardinals Monday night at Busch Stadium.

Fiers was filling in for Matt Garza after Garza was needed in relief in Sunday's 17-inning game. Fiers struck out six in six scoreless innings, and Jonathan Broxton, Neal Cotts, Jeremy Jeffress and Francisco Rodriguez finished off the shutout.

The Brewers pitchers have now posted 18 consecutive scoreless innings, with the last run coming on a Mark Trumbo home run in the eighth inning Sunday.

Jonathan Lucroy returned to the Brewers lineup after a six week absence, going 0-for-4.
