Brewers drop one in Cincy; elimination number down to 1

CINCINNATI - The Brewers big bats continue to sleepwalk through the team's three city road trip, and the team's postseason hopes are one game away from disappearing altogether.

Johnny Cueto picked up his 19th win as the Reds stifled the Brewers 3-1, the only Milwaukee run coming on Carlos Gomez's first home run since August 20th.

The loss, combined with the Pirates win, guarantees a postseason berth for Pittsburgh. The Giants lost late Tuesday night in Los Angeles, putting the Brewers 5 games behind San Francisco with 5 left to play. The next Giants win or Brewers loss would eliminate Milwaukee's postseason chances.

The Brewers face the Reds Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon in Cincinnati before coming home to wrap up the 2014 season over the weekend.
