MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Kids gathered at American Family Field Thursday to receive free dental care.

The Brewers Community Foundation partnered with Team Smile to host a free dental clinic for more than 200 underprivileged youth.

Kids were greeted with music, a T-shirt, and a special surprise from the Brewers Famous Racing Sausages.

Participants received cleanings, fillings, extractions, and education about dental hygiene.

We spoke with Cecelia Gore, the executive director of the Brewers Community Foundation, to ask why this event is important to the youth.

"Well as you might imagine, having a good oral health set is just critically important," Gore said. "One of the biggest reasons that kids aren't in school is because of their dental health, so we wanna make sure that kids are taken care of and experience a good quality of life. We focus on health, education, recreation, and basic needs."

The Brewers Community Foundation has been hosting this event since 2011.
