Breezing Our Way Through The Rest of 2016

Winds have been whipping around a lot, as of late. It makes all the difference in how it "feels" outdoors this time of year. Even though we've been treated to a few milder days in the 40s, the wind has had an extra bite. And there's no sign of any big change through the rest of the year!

Today, we've had a more northwesterly flow. Take a look at afternoon wind gusts across the area:

Temps in the 30s are feeling more like the teens with this strong wind in place. The wind will continue to run breezy tomorrow and Saturday as well. Speaking of Saturday, that's the last day of the year! Bye 2016!! We'll close out the year with a milder day back in the middle 30s, although a brisk west wind will make it feel colder. We might even have a few wind swept flurries, just to keep things festive.

Overall, the weekend is looking tame. Past Saturday, Sunday will feature dry conditions with more sun and less wind! Not a bad way to ring in the New Year! In fact, looking back in the record books, it is definitely more common to have a dry forecast. Here's some other stats for New Year's Day in Milwaukee:

On to January we go! After a quiet Sunday, we turn milder and wet for Monday. Temps in the 40s will lead to mostly rain and it looks like most of that fills in during Monday afternoon and evening. Overall, January features our coldest month of temperatures, albeit steady numbers from the first to last day of the month. It's also our snowiest month, on average.

Take a look:

While we don't have any big snow in the forecast we do have some chilly air. By the end of next week temperatures will only reach the teens for highs and lows will fall to the single-digits.

Have a great New Year everyone!!
