Bodycam video shows Wauwatosa police officer rescue suicidal girl

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Quick actions from a Wauwatosa Police Department officer may have saved the life of a 17-year-old girl.

The department shared body camera video to their Facebook page showing an officer run from his police squad to a girl seen sitting on the railing of a four-story parking structure with the intention of jumping. The officer was able to help the girl back to safety.

Police said in the post, "While this incident is extraordinary, the quick response and compassion shown by the officer isn’t, having compassion and empathy is essential to building and maintaining trusting relationships with those we serve."

The girl was provided access to mental health resources.
