Body of missing 70-year-old boater found on Lac Vieux Desert Lake in Vilas County

VILAS COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Vilas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting an elderly man had gone boating on Lac Vieux Desert Lake and had not returned around 11 p.m. on Friday.

A search of the area was conducted and the man's body was located around 8 a.m. Saturday. 

He has been identified as 70-year-old John Zeibert of Phelps, Wisconsin.

The man was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident. The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to have and wear appropriate life jackets while enjoying all water related activities.
