Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Joey
Mount Pleasant, WIS. (CBS 58) -- The Mount Pleasant Village Board voted 3 to 2 to censure David Degroot.
An outburst happened during the public comments part of a meeting a few weeks back. The board took a vote on whether to formally censure Village President David DeGroot.
At first, Degroot's vote was counted and the motion failed. Then, the council had to look up the rules and realized Degroot couldn't vote in a motion about himself.
They redid the vote and the motion passed.
"I was more embarrassed for us up here to see such a debacle happen two weeks ago," said one board member.
"It's a shame that this happened and I am embarrassed for the village," another board member said.
"I was just stunned mute during that entire process trying my best to focus my mind on whats going on and what I can do. What I heard at the beginning of the meeting tonight was very nice."
Village President David DeGroot issued an apology at the beginning of tonight's meeting.
