Blood Drive At the Milwaukee County Zoo Gets You Free Admission

Do a good deed by donating blood at the 11th annual Milwaukee County Zoo Blood Drive, and you will get free same-day zoo admission and parking along with a general weekday admission ticket to Summerfest and more.

Blood and platelet donations often decline during the summer months when busy summer schedules and vacation plans can cause some donors to be less available to give.

The blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 and 21 at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

People can also download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767). Use the sponsor code "MKE ZOO" to register for an appointment for the Milwaukee County Zoo Blood Drive.

"We're urging eligible donors to help ensure blood is available for patients in need by giving blood this summer," said Greg Novinska, director of collections for the Red Cross Badger-Hawkeye Blood Services Region. "Hospital patients continue to need lifesaving blood this summer, and they're relying on the generosity of volunteer donors to give them hope in the days and weeks ahead."

All blood types are needed.

A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
