MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The coronavirus outbreak is causing major disruptions at blood banks.
The shortage of blood could become a crisis, with members of the community that will still need transfusions.
Most blood drives were either canceled or postponed due to the pandemic, so the Blood Center and area doctors are imploring the community to consider giving blood.
"The cancer is not stopping with coronavirus. The chemotherapy is not stopping with coronavirus. Somebody who needs emergency care is not stopping with coronavirus. So the blood supply must continue with the coronavirus."
Dr. Margolis personally gave blood on Tuesday.
He says it is very safe, they take your temperature, and the need is greater than ever.
