MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The rain didn't stop some people in the Harambee neighborhood from coming out to support local businesses on Saturday, June 22.
MKE Black held a block party, at Kuumba Juice and Coffee, as a way to kick off the summer.
The event featured live music, poetry, food trucks, and a lot of local vendors.
Even though the rain kept crowds pretty light, organizers say the event is important for the area.
"Just at least people driving by and just wondering what we are and who we are and everything like that. So, I think at least, even if we don't have people come today, we do have a good impact on the community that people will come back or check out these vendors, or check out Kuumba," said Solana Patterson-Ramos with MKE Black.
Kuumba Juice and Coffee opened in February, taking over an abandoned building and bringing new life to the historic neighborhood.
