WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County plans to hold its "Bridge the Gap" fundraising gala at the Milwaukee West Marriott in Waukesha.
The event aims to support the nonprofit’s mission of providing weekend food for school-aged children facing food insecurity.
The gala is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10. Susan Reed, managing director, and Diana Schmidt, board president, joined us on Tuesday, Oct. 8 to preview the event, noting that last year’s event raised more than $150,000.
Blessings in a Backpack discreetly places bags of food in students’ backpacks on Fridays, helping over 11,000 children in the county. The nonprofit relies on donations from individuals, companies and foundations.
