Black Ice Causes Fatal Crash in Sheboygan County

UPDATE: The driver of the fatal crash was identified as Jodeen Hinz. 

ORIGINAL: A 16-year-old died in a crash in Sheboygan County Tuesday morning after hitting black ice.

According to Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, 911 call was received by the Sheboygan County Emergency Dispatch Center reporting a serious injury crash on CTH U .1 mile east of Elderberry Land, in the Town of Lyndon.

The 16 year old driver of a pickup truck and a 16 year old passenger were westbound on CTH U just east of Elderberry Lane, where they encountered black ice.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway into the south ditch, where they collided with trees. The driver was ejected and died at the scene, the passenger was uninjured.

Deputies, along with Plymouth Fire Department and Orange Cross Ambulance, responded to and investigated the crash.
