WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Another giveaway happened today but it was a bit smaller and focused on families working to recover from the floods.
Patty Novak, a West Allis alder, and part of the 'Novak Manor' family helped organize a backpack giveaway.
She invited 'Bikers Advocating Child Safety' (BACS) to their 'Novak Manor' to give away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies.
Kids also got a big cookie.
The recovery process takes a long time, but this kind of support makes a difference.
"West Allis is strong, they're trying to get back to normal and with the help of community, they'll get back to normal," said Founder and President of BACS Russ Donald. "To see the smile on kids' faces just by getting backpacks and a cookie today has been great."
Novak also brought hygiene kits being given away by the city of West Allis as part of the flood recovery efforts, so families had a change to grab one tonight.
