Big decisions coming Thursday from State Supreme Court

MILWAUKEE -- Three major opinions are expected to be released by the Wisconsin State Supreme Court on Thursday.

The issues in question are Act 10, Voter ID, and a same sex registry that gives gay couples limited benefits.

Former State Supreme Court Justice Janine Geske believes the ruling on Act 10 will have the most immediate impact.

She added that the impact on the other two topics will be minimal until the Federal Courts and U.S. Supreme Courts eventually take up the issues.

The ACLU Legal Director, Larry Dupuis, said he thinks the rulings on Voter ID and the registry could affect some of his clients on Thursday.

He directly pointed to the registry as having a negative effect if couples lose the benefits from the registry.

Geske predicts, because these issues are polarizing in Wisconsin, there will be some very happy and unhappy people tomorrow.
