Behind-the-scenes look at progress on MSOE's new 4-story academic center
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is getting a new four-story, $76.5 million academic center, funded entirely through philanthropy.
We got a behind-the-scenes look Monday, Nov. 2, at how construction is going.
The Robert D. Kern Engineering Innovation Center will have flexible labs, a workshop focused on robotics and AI, an outdoor sustainability lab, and more.
"A lot of students come here for the building trades, whether being an engineer or construction manager, and seeing these elements kind of in real world and what it is actually serving for the building, really helps kind of give them a grasp of what they're teaching in the textbooks," said Mike Bauer. "They can actually look up and see."
Construction started in September 2025 and is now 60% complete.
It's on track to be completed by June.
