Beaver Dam man sentenced to 8 years in prison for violently shaking baby

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Beaver Dam man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for violently shaking an 8-month-old baby girl.

The baby girl suffered injuries to her brain, eyes and neck. 24-year-old Raymond Keyser told officials that the child fell of a two-foot high bed onto the carpeted floor.

The child survived but suffered permanent brain damage and disability.

When announcing the sentence the judge said, “The child in this case was totally helpless, an infant. We are dealing with brain injuries that are permanent, debilitating and life changing.”

After prison, Keyser will serve five years of extended supervision
