BB guns, beanbag rounds, a K9 and a Taser: I-41 pursuit tops 130 mph before standoff
BYRON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A driver reached speeds exceeding 130 mph on Interstate 41 early Monday, March 2, before a pursuit ended with the man firing BB guns at deputies, getting hit with beanbag rounds, bitten by a K9 and tased, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy reportedly spotted the car traveling 120 mph near Lost Arrow Road in the Township of Byron around 3:45 a.m.
The driver refused to stop and re-entered I-41 southbound before Washington County deputies deployed tire deflation devices, according to officials.
After the car stopped, the driver got out holding two black Glock-style BB guns and began firing at squad cars, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies recognized the sound as BB fire rather than live rounds and responded using less than lethal methods.
The man then ran on foot before stopping in the roadway for a standoff before being taken into custody and transported to SSM Health in Fond du Lac for treatment.
No injuries have been reported.
