Free Sprecher root beer floats to benefit Feeding America at Glendale's Root Beer Bash 🥤

GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Glendale prepares to host the sixth annual Sprecher Root Beer Bash at Bayshore, an event touted as the world's largest Root Beer Float Festival.

The city of Glendale, proudly known as the "Root Beer Capital of the Universe" according to a Thursday, July 20 press release, will stage the festival in association with Culver’s Glendale.

The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Yard, an open-air community space in the heart of Bayshore.

Attendees can expect a variety of activities, including a Makers Market, henna art, balloon twisting, face painting, a community art project, kids float zone and a petting zoo. Live entertainment will be provided by Shorewood School of Rock starting at noon, followed by 5 Card Studs at 1 p.m.

Amidst all of the root beer and custard, the festival puts a strong emphasis on charity. A Root Beer Float Giveaway is planned, courtesy of Sprecher Brewery and Culver’s Glendale. For each complimentary root beer float distributed at the event, Sprecher Brewing Company promises to donate a meal to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

Numerous food trucks and vendors will be present at the event, featuring El Sazón Dominicano, Pig Tailz, Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, Lily Bells, Kona Ice and the Sprecher Taproom, which will offer a range of craft beverages and snacks.

Attendees are encouraged to sign up for their free ticket to ensure enough supply of Sprecher root beer and Culver’s custard. The event is held outdoors and will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
