BARABOO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Seniors at Baraboo High School spent Monday at the Illinois Holocaust Museum as the district works to move on from a controversial photo that brought them national attention.
The field trip comes a little more than four months after a prom photo appearing to show students giving a Nazi salute went viral online. In the months since, the school district and the community have worked together to learn and grow from the controversy.
"My hope is that these educational opportunities for these kids are really something that they grip hold of and push forward as the school district and community has intended and really that the whole community continues to grow," said Baraboo Police Department Chief Mark Schauf.
In addition to the field trip, the district has also hosted several guest speakers and other events to speak out against hate.
