Badgers rallies fall short in Capital One Bowl loss

ORLANDO - The Badgers rallied from deficits several times Wednesday at the Capital One Bowl, but the 10 point late deficit was too much for Wisconsin to overcome in a 34-24 loss to South Carolina.

Joel Stave threw a pair of touchdown passes, both of which game the Badgers first half leads, and Kenzel Doe returned a kick 91 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that made it just a three point Gamecocks lead. But South Carolina drove down the field and answered with their own touchdown to finish off the scoring and secure the Capital One Bowl win.

The Badgers rushed for 293 yards as a team, led by Melvin Gordon's 143 yards on 25 carries. James White added 107 yards on the ground. South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw completed 22 of 25 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns.

The Badgers (9-4) have lost bowl games in four consecutive seasons.
