’ Nonprofit ’Express Yourself Milwaukee’ closes its doors
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – More than 300 students at Hopkins Lloyd Community School in Milwaukee will start the new semester with a backpack filled with supplies.
MPS Superintendent Darienne Driver says the Backpack Coalition, which includes the Packers, Boston Store, and United Way, is a winning partnership.
“We know that they can be so much more successful when they’re able to walk through the door on the first day, ready to go with all the different resources that they need,” says Driver. “I can’t wait to see the looks on our children’s faces when they walk through the door because this is really something special and clearly this was made with love."
The Backpack Coalition will hand out more than 5,000 backpacks in nine school districts this year.
