The attorney for Steven Avery, Kathleen Zellner, has filed a post-conviction petition.
The Clerk of Courts for Manitowoc County tells CBS 58 the petition is over 1,000 pages.
Steven Avery and his nephew are serving life sentences for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
This case gained national attention after being featured in the Netflix series "Making a Murderer." The 10-part documentary series explores the possibility that Steven Avery was framed and that has viewers around the world, questioning whether or not justice was served, and attacking the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department.
Zellner is helping Avery appeal his conviction.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice released the following statement:
"We are confident that as with Mr. Avery's prior motions, this one also is without merit and will be rejected once it is considered by the court. We continue to send our condolences to the Halbach family as they have to endure Avery's ridiculous attempts to re-litigate his guilty verdict and sentence."
