Area manufacturing company looks to fill 100 positions at job fair

WHITEWATER -- An area employer is on the grow again.

Generac power systems announced plans to hire more people during a job fair Thursday, September 25 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event will be at the company's Whitewater facility, located at 757 N. Newcomb Street.

The company has 100 open positions at its six facilities across Wisconsin. The jobs range from engineering and sales to customer support and operations.

Generac is building on its workforce of about 3,400 employees.

It recently spent millions of dollars creating digital manufacturing lines that are being tested right now before installed in all plants.

The upgrade allows the company to build more generators and makes it safer for employees, but company officials also hope the new technology also attracts a younger workforce to use their tech savvy skills.

However, leaders stress that shouldn't stop older people from applying as the new way of working makes training easier.

It could be a potential new start for ex-Cargill workers still looking for work.

\"Certainly we're looking for talented people across a broad spectrum and encourage people if they have recently experienced a layoff to certainly come and talk to us,\" said Art Aiello, public relations manager. \"Again, we have so many different positions available.\"

There could be interviews on site at the job fair, so those interested should bring their resumes.
