OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An apartment fire in Oak Creek left one person dead Wednesday, Oct. 8. 

Authorities were called to the Seasons and Orchard Hills apartments, located on Orchard Hills Drive, just after 7:45 a.m. for report of smoke coming from a unit. 

Officials located one victim inside. They were transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead. 

Authorities say there was no active fire inside the building and the sprinkler system had been activated. 

The apartment had minor damage as a result of the fire, and one other apartment sustained water damage from the sprinkler system. 

Multiple fire departments assisted with the incident. 

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
