MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A fun experience was held for young science fiction fans at a downtown museum on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Sci-Fi Family Day at Discovery World started as an event to teach people about construction materials and techniques used to build fantasy costumes.
It has grown to be the museum's most popular event of the year.
Kids got to see some of their favorite characters come to life while they learn about science.
"We have the art going, there's hands-on stem activities, there's the mermaid event which is teaching kids about taking care of the environment," said Kelly Guentner with Costumes with a Cause.
Aside from being able to drive around robots and seeing their favorite characters, they also got to see massive Lego displays and play board games.
