MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thursday, we got a chance to enjoy the work of some really smart hometown kids.
There are 100 projects on display at the Wisconsin Center downtown as part of the annual MPS STEM fair.
"They are building a prototype based off of a problem that they have identified in the real world that they are trying to solve," said Andrew Wellinghoff, science specialist.
Kids from 54 Milwaukee Public Schools showed off their projects, and we're talking kids of all ages -- kindergarten through 12th grade.
The idea is to expose kids to STEM fields -- science, technology, engineering and math -- because that's where the jobs are.
The first STEM fair was held in 2007, and they tell us that Thursday's was the biggest yet.
