Amtrak Train Hits Car at Railroad Crossing

An Amtrak train collided with a car, severely injuring the driver of the car, in the town of Somers, in Kenosha County Saturday morning.

Kenosha Sheriff's Office received a call of a train vs. vehicle around 8:30 a.m. The area of the crash was the 8000 block of County Highway E. 

Initial information indicates that the driver of the vehicle tried to go around the train crossing gates, but was struck by the train.

The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries. No passengers aboard the train appear to be injured according to information from Amtrak and Kenosha Sheriff's Office.
