All aboard all train enthusiasts! Trainfest returns to Milwaukee 🚂
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- All aboard for the return of Trainfest!
From steam engines to diesel haulers to light rails, it was all things trains at the Baird Center this weekend.Â
The yearly convention of model trains brings together enthusiasts from all over to check out the latest in the hobby. The convention hall was filled with massive tracks showing off all kinds of designs and vendors selling the latest and greatest.
From kids to adults and even celebrities, it's a hobby people find a serious passion for.Â
"My wife and I bought a home in Rocky Hill, New Jersey to save a model railroad club," said Impractical Jokers host James 'Murr' Murray. "It's Pacific Southern Railway, it's the longest running non-profit model railroad club. And by buying the house and saving the club, I am now a member of the club. So, we're here at Trainfest in Milwaukee having a blast and it's so much fun."Â
While you might think the hobby isn't as big as it used to be, a vendor from the United Kingdom told us that the pandemic brought a huge new wave of people who now love tinkering with their model trains.Â
