Thinking Warm Thoughts on This Chilly Thursday
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan attacked Mayor Tom Barrett's 2020 budget proposal Thursday.
The spending plan presented by the mayor earlier this week calls for a reduction of 80 police positions through unfilled vacancies. The mayor cited money problems, but on Thursday, Donovan said the plan would be a "disaster" for neighborhoods, and he accused the mayor of breaking a campaign promise.
"One promise was to conduct a thorough audit of every city department," said Ald. Donovan. "That was a campaign promise he made and was never done. Was certainly one of the reasons I supported him."
At Thursday's news conference, Donovan also said he supports current Police Chief Alfonso Morales and called for his reappointment.
