OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A tactical situation involving an "extremely dangerous" and "heavily armed" suspect is underway in the Village of Fredonia Friday, May 9.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office says all residents in the Fox Glen Road neighborhood are asked to remain in their basements until the threat has been controlled.

Fox Glen, Pheasant Lane and Partridge Lane have been closed until further notice. Those who live on Edmaro may leave the area traveling southbound on Edmaro, but use "extreme caution."

St. John's Church and day care will be closed for the day due to the proximity to the incident.

Law enforcement is asking all residents in the area to stay in their homes or officers will escort you out of the area.

The sheriff's office says electrical power was temporarily turned off in the Fox Glen neighborhood but has since been restored.

Neighbors in the area tell CBS 58 News they’ve heard gunshots and sirens since midnight.

“A couple hours ago the road was still blocked, and I heard gunshots. And it’s like it’s not something you ever think you’re gonna have to experience, especially out here, so it feels unreal,” said Ashley Fullerton.

Residents say it's been a terrifying experience, saying they feel uneasy and want to see a resolution.

“Was very scary because we have two young kids as well,” said neighbor Jeremy Fullerton. “They had a shelter in place, so we wanted to take that into effect and make sure the kids are safe, but yeah, it’s scary for being such a quiet neighborhood. It’s very heartbreaking."

Neighbors also tell CBS 58 News they have had issues with the home involved in the tactical situation before, saying they’ve heard random gunshots from there.
