Alderman Davis wants to fix 911 system, police response times

MILWAUKEE -- Alderman Joe Davis says there are flaws that need to be fixed as soon as possible.  He's hearing the mounting concerns about 911 calls and police response times.  Davis is part of the public safety committee which met with the fire and police commission head Monday. 

Davis is concerned the fire and police commission hasn't addressed the 911 call problems.  Piling on that is the recent deadly stabbing on the north side.  It took officers more than 20 minutes to arrive on scene.  The victim died because of the wounds.  MPD has an internal investigation about that incident.  Davis says citizens are concerned about automated messages when calling 911. He thinks city leaders need to analyze whats wrong and fix it.

\"The tragic situation where neighbors called 911, a squad was not dispatched, and it end up turning out to be someone who end up getting killed,\" Davis said.  \"I think that is a crisis, I think it's a tragedy, and I think it's upon the city of Milwaukee to fix that flaw.\"
