MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa, who represents district 8 on Milwaukee's south side, not only knew Officer Peter Jerving, she calls him a family friend.
She would often see him at family outings and cookouts. She says he truly was the definition of a role model.
"He helped my sister with home improvement projects, and he was just always very helpful and kind of a character -- very, very funny," Ald. Zamarripa said. "He was good people, and he was a good cop, and this is a huge loss for our city."
While Ald. Zamarripa says the loss is heartbreaking, she's happy that Officer Jerving is being "lifted up" by the city.
