Plein Air Painting
Thursdays, May 29 to July 10, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (no class July 3)

This six week class will concentrate on the fundamentals of landscape painting while exploring the beauty of the southern Kettle Moraine. Learn outdoor painting techniques required in capturing the shifting light and color of the outdoors. Working in small to mid-size format, paint several field studies with a focus on composition, value, color, and cohesion of the major masses. A portion of the instruction will take place in the studio with an emphasis on refining field studies or developing a larger work. This class is for students with any painting experience, but familiarity with outdoor painting is not a requirement. Instructor demonstrates in oil. Supplies are not included; supply list available online.

Painting Studio

Create paintings, explore your medium, and focus on expressing your subject. Use all your creative energy, technique, and inspiration. Students will be encouraged to find and explore their own artistic style.  Immerse yourself in this exciting, innovative movement that has captivated both beginner and experienced painters. Oil, Water color, and acrylic mediums welcome. Supplies are not included.

Introduction to Drawing

This course is designed for beginner artists who have an interest in learning how to draw or sketch—or simply want to improve their skills. It will cover the tools you’ll need and also give you plenty of chances to practice drawing different things, from people, places, things, and then beyond. In this course, you’re going to lean the processes and techniques that gave rise to some of the most talented artists in the world. You’re going to learn about: the tools artists use to draw, values, shading, textures and how to create them, drawing flowers and trees, drawing a still-life, drawing people, and much more! Supplies are not included; supply list available online.

Garden Art in Clay
Tuesday, July 8-29, 6:00-8:00 pm
Tuition: $56 (4-weeks)
Ages: 16+
Instructor: Andee Warren
Location: Creative Arts Studio
Create unique clay art objects for your garden! Using simple techniques, you will hand build your own creative planter, watering can, plant marker, stepping stone, garden sculpture, or other creative art objects for your garden or as gifts for your favorite gardener. These durable works of art will adorn your garden with a personal, charming touch for years to come. Students are encouraged to bring a sketchbook to each session in which to jot down ideas. No experience in ceramics is required for this course. Supplies are included.
