MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 55 million people are expected to travel this Thanksgiving, according to AAA.
AAA says this will be the second-highest Thanksgiving travel volume since they started tracking in 2000.
"The Hiawatha here from Chicago was really packed," said one traveler, who took the Amtrak from Austin, Texas to Milwaukee.
"I'd say it's a little bit busier for Thanksgiving," said a Marquette student, who frequently takes the train from Milwaukee to Wilmette, Illinois on a regular basis.
In Wisconsin, more than 1.1million people will be traveling for the holiday weekend, according to AAA, which is a 2.9 percent increase from 2018. More than 1 million of those travelers will be driving.
