A soaking end to July bring us close to average on rainfall and it was warm too

The last day of July and the first day of August were very wet. Our soaking rain definitely came to fruition with most of southeast Wisconsin picking up between 2-5" of rainfall. Some of our northern counties didn't quite hit that 2" mark but still saw a good soaking 1.50". 

Just under an inch of the 2.89" Milwaukee picked up fell on the last day of July and goes into the record books. That wet Friday was after Monday was also very wet with the severe storms. Combined, July picked up 2.82" of rain during the month which is still below the monthly average of 3.40" and below July in 2025 when we had over 4". Pretty impressive considering we went into the last week of July as the record driest.

July was also very warm. Remember the heat for the middle of the month? Milwaukee almost got to 100 degrees for the first time in years with a high of 99 on July 14th. The coldest low wasn't too chilly either in the upper 50s on July 22nd. Overall, the average July temperature was exactly 75 degrees which was 1.7 degrees above average and goes down as the 15th warmest July on record. 

Now we head into the month of August which does average more rain than July at 3.65". Last August led to all of that record flooding across the state. Average highs and lows drop a few degrees during the month. August also loses good daylight with Milwaukee seeing 83 minutes less daylight by the end of the month.
