A portion of Downtown Waukesha in the dark for a few days

WAUKESHA, WI - Some areas of Downtown will be without street lights for the next several days. The outage is focused on portions of South Street, Grand Avenue and West Main Street. A construction project is forcing the city to shutter the street lights there for a while. This started on Wednesday night and is expected to last 4 or 5 days. That means it'll likely go through this weekend. A few hundred people live in apartments in that area. Some people have concerns about safety while the street lights are off at night. Waukesha Police say there will be plenty of officers in the area while the project is underway. Not only beat cops walking, but also two police squads dedicated Downtown as well.
