A chilly end to 2025 in December with near average snowfall
With the end of 2025, December went into the record books. The start to December was very chilly then we started to warm up in the week before Christmas. Overall the month still ended well below-average with an average temperature of 24.6 degrees which is the 55th coldest December on record. The warmest temp was 48 which happened twice on December 18th and 23rd. The coldest temp was when lows dropped below-zero on December 14th.
We had decent snowfall during December with consistent light snow chances. The entire month picked up 8.8" of snow which is slightly below the average snowfall of 10.4" but above the 5"+ we had in 2024. Even though it was below average on snow, it was the snowiest December since 2016 and the 56th most snowy on record.
When it came to total precipitation during the month which includes any rain and the liquid equivalent of any snow we saw 1.80" of total precipitation which is just barely below average but nearly double what we had in December, 2024.
Now we are in the month of January which is historically our coldest and snowiest month of the year. The average highs stay mostly in the low 30s and drop to 30 degrees in the middle of the month before warming to 31 by the end of the month. Similarly with average lows they start in the upper teens before dropping to 16 in the middle of the month then warming to 17. January averages nearly 15" of snow.
