MFD responds to two duplexes and part of a bar fire near 7th and Greenfield

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Milwaukee fire officials responded to a call of a fire near 7th and Greenfield around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.

The Milwaukee Fire Department said it is a two alarm fire involving two duplexes and part of a bar.

Officials say the fire started to spread faster from the wind.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour.

There were no injuries.

Inspectors say they recommended the duplexes and the bar to update their fire alarms.

"Just ultimately want to remind people the importance of fire safety, the importance of having smoke detectors, checking to make sure you have a smoke detector and have one that works so it can alert you if there is a fire and if there is a fire to immediately vacate the building and come upon a meeting spot," Deputy Chief Joe Hegeman Jr. said.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
