91-year-old fishing boat being demolished in Racine

A piece of history is being taken apart today in Racine.

A 91-year-old fishing boat that sank in the Root River over the winter is back on dry land and is being demolished.

The fishing tugboat was built in 1926. It was one of the first vessels to respond to and rescue people on the SS Wisconsin Steamboat that sank back in 1929. But, after it ended up on the bottom of the river in January, the boat had to be taken apart.

\"So, they waited a few months, then they raised it one foot, pumped out the water, raised it one foot, pumped out the water so they didn't have to lift all the water and once they got it empty then the crane could lift it.

The demolition is expected to be finished by the end of the day.
